On our last day in Chicago, we took a architect boat tour on the Chicago River. There were so many things we learned on this tour. We learned how the rumor of the Fire of 1871 took place, and how the city was rebuilt after the fire. We learned how some of the buildings were built with the bend and curve of the river. There were so many architect terms used during this tour, I felt I needed a class to learn them all!!!! We were informed on how Chicago turns the river each year on St. Patricks Day, and learned on the history of how polluted the river was and what they did to clean it up. We learned about the history of the Sears Tower being the tallest building in the whole world until the 1990's when another building was built. They described how Chicago was very upset by this and added towers to make it the tallest again.
There were so many things we learned during this tour. I know I missed so many facts, but it was still a nice way to see the city. Even though the tour was very cool, we all had a great time. This was Cooper's first boat ride.
